Netflix surveyed over 30,000 people in multiple countries at the end of 2016 and found that not only were people willing to cheat but that they would do it again and again. 81 percent of cheaters are “repeat offenders, into” and 44 percent have done it more than three times.When comparing the survey results to data from 2013, Netflix also found that cheating has become more common, with it occurring three times as often. That would make sense considering the number of original shows that Netflix has premiered since then and the evolution of “binge-watching” TV, which ensures that you’ll keep watching after an episode wraps up.“Netflix cheating has quickly become the new normal,” the streaming service wrote in a press release.Courtesy NetflixNetflix broke down the kinds of cheaters that people can be as well. About 25 percent are “sleepless cheaters” that will watch TV after their significant other falls asleep. The “sorry not sorry” cheater is one that doesn’t feel guilty about it, and that makes up around 32 percent. Around 19 percent are “long distance cheaters” who cheat when their partner is away.But what’s the big deal? It’s just TV, and you can always go back and rewatch an episode with your partner. But when you make a commitment, whether it’s to be with one person or to watch Stranger Things with somebody, it’s still a commitment. That’s why 14 percent of survey takers said that Netflix cheating is worse than having an actual affair, which it totally is!There are many ways to see if your partner is cheating. If you suspect something, you can see if any future episodes have been watched. You can trap them by asking them questions throughout an episode to see if they fidget or know an answer they shouldn’t. You could also just ask them and let them know how you feel about it, like an open couple that communicates. The most important aspect of any relationship is communication. If you’re okay with your partner watching ahead, let them know. If you’re not, let them know too!
