VALENCIA – A wine-tasting event and fundraiser for the Santa Clarita Valley Youth Orchestra will be held June 3 and feature rare and vintage wines donated by collectors and merchants. The 18th annual Santa Clarita Valley Wine Classic at California Institute of the Arts also will offer gourmet food from local restaurants and live music. Guests will be able to bid on current and rare vintage wines, artwork, travel and restaurant certificates during a silent auction. Vintage library wines will be available for tasting, such as the 2001 Chateau Margaux and Chateau Haut Brion, two first-growth Bordeaux wines, as well as Kistler chardonnays. Guests will receive souvenir glasses and trays. Wines featured in the event raffle will be a 3-liter 2001 Silver Oak Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon, a 1.5-liter bottle of Joseph Phelps 2002 Insignia (named “Wine of the year” for 2005 by Wine Spectator,) or a rare “Velvet Elvis” magnum of Napa Valley cabernet sauvignon licensed by Graceland Cellars. last_img
