DES MOINES, Iowa – The Drake University women’s tennis team travels to Miami, Fla. for its final tournament of the fall as the Bulldogs will play in the FIU Invitational on Friday through Sunday. Herder and Petushkova teamed up in doubles and beat South Dakota’s Kollarova/Stanciu in the opening round before falling to No. 6 seed Douglas/Van Heuvelen from Iowa in the second round. Herder and Petushkova each had tough second round matches as they each fell to seeded opponents. Herder dropped straight sets to No. 17 Yufel Long from Iowa, 6-1, 6-2, while Petushkova was setback by No. 14 Martha Matoula from Tulsa, 6-2, 6-1. In singles, Herder cruised past South Dakota State’s Morgan Brower 6-2, 6-1 as Petushkova earned a 6-3, 6-3 win over South Dakota’s Luana Stanciu to advance to the second round.
